Happiness comes from aeroplanes, not relationships!

by Natalie Kjaergaard

Flemming and I started our morning in my flying club from a brunch. We wanted to fly to Jutland, but the weather wasn’t as good as we hoped for, and we decided to wait and see.

There wasn’t much to do, and Flemming offered to wax and polish my Aeroprakt. I hesitated a bit (I would rather go flying!), but then said “yes, why not”. And look how happy he was polishing it:

All you need in life is an aeroplane and a pilot-boyfriend, who can happily clean and polish your aeroplane. “If you are not happy single, you won’t be happy married. Happiness comes from aeroplanes, not from relationships”, I’ve read somewhere recently. Laughed a lot, and fully agreed! It was a joke, of course, but a good one 🙂 Sharing of any passion is often the key.

Meanwhile, the weather was getting better. It was too late to fly to Jutland, but we decided to go for a local flight.

One of the club members wanted to fly his SD1 Minisport, and Flemming helped with getting its wings on:

We got airborne. Our plan was to fly over the northern Sjælland. Somewhere close to my flying club we saw a garden or a field with a green path, curling through the entire area:

Isefjord on its western side:

I always wanted to take a good picture of the Rørvig church, and finally it turned out to be ok. There wasn’t much direct sunlight that day, which helped:

The church was built around 1150, and originally was in the center of a town. However, later the town was moved due to sand drift. Previously the area had little vegetation, and the church therefore also functioned as a sea mark.

Though our trip to Jutland had to be abandoned, we were glad to get into the air.

Hornbæk with its marina, so popular during summer time:

Flemming and I continued to Helsingør:

And of course, a round over the Kronborg Castle:

We saw different other castles, harbours, towns on our way. Eventually, we slowly headed back home, and flew by the Gørløse gliding club. The air traffic controller warned us about the gliding activity there, and we quickly turned away:

At home, no cleaning was needed after that polishing work. I logged my hours, and OY-9797 was put into its hangar.

We went for a light hiking, and experienced one more giant of Thomas Danbo, called Runde Rie, by Lynghøj Lake:

It became a day full of good experiences, and we were tired by the end of it.
