The majestic cliffs of Møn

by Natalie Kjaergaard

Though the weather was good, I was too tired to go for a weekend trip. It might sound strange, because a weekend trip is supposed to be relaxing. But relaxation also comes at a price – there are many practical things: besides monitoring the weather, you need to find a nice place to stay, interesting things to do, maybe rent a car or arrange bikes, and so on. And after a demanding work week I just wanted to have a flight.

We still had some snow left. I hoped to see more of it, but there wasn’t much on Zealand:

Flemming joined me as a co-pilot, and it was very comfortable to give controls to someone I trust. We decided to fly to the island of Møn and have a look at its magnificent cliffs from air.

Pictures speak for themselves:

It’s one of my favorite destinations to go for a walk by the sea (though a bit far away from home):

Some trees seemed to be covered in someting white. We wondered what it was: blooming, burned, limestone powder?

After getting enough of the cliffs and their surroundings, we landed in Koster Vig – yellow line indicates the airstrip:

It was nice to have a small break. We brought tea and fruit with us. Flemming looks so happy on the photo below, because he is trying to get The Aviator head-down into the tea:

Flying back, we did a couple of rounds over Stege, the largest town on the island:

The visibility was perfect, and air – so clean:

Flemming and I were glad we did it. We were otherwise holding a briefing on the phone at 6 a.m. – deciding whether to go or to sleep longer! How stupid of us! We can sleep when we get old…

At home, many aircraft were out flying. Everybody wanted to get something good out of the day.

You never know when such a chance comes again…
