Hangar work on a Monday evening

by Natalie Kjaergaard

I had planned some hangar work on my Aeroprakt – carbs sync check and test of my new handheld radio with the headset. Surprisingly, there were many other pilots in my flying club that also thought Monday would be a good day to do a little hangar work. Thomas came by on his gorgeous bike, smiling happily – I perfectly understand! What could be better than coming to your flying club?!

Last month, Thomas gave a hand (together with Flemming) checking the fairing of my headwheel and replacing a missing spring on the engine after my Easter 2022 tour. I was greatful for their help (photo from April):

One of the springs went missing on my last flight from Germany on the Easter 2022 tour, and I discussed with Lars what could be the reason for that. We decided to check the carbs sync, to see whether the vibrations from there could be the cause. But before going to carbs, I wanted to test my newly purchased handheld radio:

I once experienced radio failure, therefore bought a Yaesu 850L as a backup, and a PTT switch so that I would be able to use it together with my headset, if necessary.

After the radio talks, it was time to check the carburettors. I warmed up the engine:

And Lars was sitting outside – watching the prop and its potential vibrations:

Then we prepared for connecting the CarbMate synchronizer:

Everything was just perfect:

Ensuring the hoses are in the right place:

And the last task for the evening was to assemble a new board on wheels:

Meanwhile, Jesper returned from a flight, Simba came by, and other pilots were working in their hangars:

It was a nice and cozy evening, and so good to meet many club mates!
