World ultralight fly-in (WUFI) is an annual global event that takes place on the 1st October. All pilots of small aircraft are encouraged to participate by sharing the same sky on the same day together. I learned about the event from our Danish ultralight union’ newsletter and loved the idea! All you needed to do was to register, get airborne and enjoy flying, take a selfie with a date stamp and upload it as a documentation, and receive your certification.
All the steps for participation were well-explained and the registration made easy. Below is a small section of the map with our registrations. 921 pilots around the globe attended the event! On a Facebook page one could see pictures of many of these happy magnificent men flying their magnificent machines on that day.
I flew with Thore. Our club is located close to a train station, so we have many trains passing by (therefore one of them is in the background).
The weather was OK, we were happy we could fly. And there was a beautiful rainbow on our way.
We remembered to take a selfie for the WUFI day.
No flying in Denmark without a little rain here or there. As long as VMC is maintained, it is not a problem.
We visited Vagn in Kræmmersten where he has his Rans 6. Vagn is a very knowledgeable and experienced pilot and engineer. Whilst he was giving a phone consultation regarding one or another motor-related problem, we made ourselves comfortable at the place.
Entering briefing room was like entering a battlefield: at least one million dead flies were covering everything. They got poisoned by Helge, the owner of the airfield (I know that for sure; Vagn could never kill a fly!). Thore had to take the broom and to sweep all those dead bodies away…
Helge’s cows clearly missed me. During summer I fed them with fresh grass and got lots of conditional love in return.
Vagn offered us his famous freshly brewed tea which we enjoyed in the garden.
And soon it was time to go home. One more wonderful day with flying…
