Walpurgis Eve (or Valborg in Swedish) is celebrated on the last day of April. It is Swedish traditional celebration of spring, and attracts many spectators. I was lucky to be in Höganäs that weekend in 2016, when together with friends from my flying club we stayed at Nordvästra Skånes flygklubb. And when we heard that Mats Andersson from this flying club was going to perform aerobatics at the opening ceremony in Höganäs harbour, we rushed to the place.
There were lots of happy people, several orchestras, and choirs singing. Mats’ aerobatics was spectacular, but unfortunately a mobile phone camera wasn’t good enough to capture the flying maneuvers. We did a little walking tour and were fascinated by tiles decorations on the concrete wall around the harbour:
Later in the evening we moved to the beach were a bonfire was going to be lit at dusk.
There were speeches and choir singing, barbecue, children were playing with the sand, and the atmosphere was nice despite freezing cold.
Finally the moment has come: a procession with flags and torches moved through the crowd:
It was a beautiful evening…
