When I took off from my flying club, I almost regretted I didn’t wait half an hour longer. There were low scattered clouds, in some places – broken. They were mostly close to the bays and bigger lakes.
I was going to spend that sunny day in Höganäs in Sweden:
Leaving Denmark, there were again those low clouds, but otherwise clear skies:
I did a round over Kullaberg – my favorite place on Earth:
Though I arrived early, there were already local pilots in the club house. I parked my OY-9797 and put its canopy cover on – it would keep the cockpit cool:
I borrowed a bike from the flying club and headed on the road. I didn’t have any particular plans, just wanted to relax – and to have the whole day for migself. Beautiful flowers were lined up along the biking path:
First stop – Salthallarna, an old industrial area, transformed into a place with shops, cafes, art galleries.
Why not make your own salt at home? I couldn’t believe my eyes… I wondered, how many of those innovative products were sold…
The old gas station of Salthallarna:
I continued to other shops. At home, I rarely go shopping – it has very low priority for me. So, when abroad and if I have the time, it is sometimes a pleasure to slowly walk around and see different goods, to buy a couple of presents – which I also did that time.
In Höganäs, I always visit Örrefors shop. I love their glass, and there are often beautiful glassworks on display:
In Örrefors, I couldn’t resist and bought myself a small gift – a set of stainless steel straws for drinks:
When I was in Croatia last summer, in a fancy cafe on island Hvar I was served beetroot juice with such a straw. You can see more here. I thought it was very practical and hygienical, but to go and look for those straws in shops – no way, there are other more exciting things to do. So when I suddenly saw them in Örrefors, I had to buy 🙂
After shopping, I biked to the beach. My favorite old house in Höganäs on the photo below. I don’t know how old it is or what it is used for…
On the beach, there was summer and happiness. This place is called Kvickbadet. Lots of people enjoyed being there. With slides at different levels, piers to jump off, and wooden promenades where one could sunbath, it was a lovely place.
The water was warm, with clean sandy bottom beneath my feet.
I bought an ice-cream, and went for a stroll in the marina.
Höganäs is known for its ceramics, and on the wall surrounding marina, one can see many artworks by children. I love exploring their creations.
The one in the centre above reads “Today I’m going to do nothing. Did that yesterday too, but wasn’t finished” 🙂
I spent a couple of hours there, relaxing by the sea. On the horizon, there were firce clouds, but they were far away.
I monitored the weather, and knew Höganäs would be free from thunderstorms. That’s why I flew there!
I left in the evening, around 8 p.m. Höganäs from air – the bay where I was swimming, the marina where I walked by the art wall… What a nice place!
Höganäs airfield – hopefully I will soon be back:
I was quite tired after spending the whole day being outside, and happy that I had that chance to hang out in Höganäs.
