I had a long sleep in Saint-Omer-Wizernes… Vagn, my loyal friend and a travel companion, patiently waited by his aircraft…
We had some fruit and a glass of water for breakfast, and quickly packed our stuff:
It was 4th of July, and our destination was Cherbourg:
A bridge over Seine on our way:
It was a hot and sunny day, and it was a bit tiring to fly against the sun:
Crique de Rouen:
A part of our trip we flew over the water, where we could see the cliffs and all those famous D-day sites… Port en Bessin:
In Cherbourg, there wasn’t much traffic on our arrival. Left downwind to RWY10:
The stuff in the airport was very helpful; whilst I quickly booked a hotel, they called us a taxi.
We checked in to the hotel, dropped our bags, and went for a walk. The weather was perfect, it was a calm afternoon.
It was nice to get some fresh air after sweating in the cockpit.
A receptionist in our hotel recommended L’équipage restaurant for dinner. It was close to our hotel, and we went there. And what a view we had from its terrace!
The restaurant was fully booked, but they were very kind and found a table for us. We thought we’d just had a salad or something light, but when we saw the menu card, we went for a three-course menu with wine! Everything was simply excellent, and despite being over-crowded the service was very quick. It was a really good place, we stayed long; and we thanked the receptionist in our hotel for this great recommendation.
