Our second day in Cherbourg was relaxing. Vagn and I thought we deserved a drink in the (late) morning; a glass of rosé for me, and a kir blanc for Vagn:
We did nothing special; just wandered around the old town, did a bit shopping, and made breaks for coffee, ice-cream, lunch, whatever we felt was right.
Took pictures here and there…
Dreamed of more calories…
We discovered, Cherbourg had many harbours…
I had told Vagn that I remembered an old romantic film I saw in my childhood, called “Les parapluies de Cherbourg”, starring Catherine Deneuve and Nino Castelnuovo, and the music composed by Michel Legrand. Later that day we stumbled upon a boutique with the name “Les parapluies de Cherbourg”:
It showed up, some of the scenes in the film were filmed in that boutique!
It was so much fun to discover that!
Vagn was fascinated by the heads (sculptures) on buildings; he took lots of pictures of them:
Vagn also spent some time by the vinyls’ store, but he didn’t buy anything. As far as I remember, he has an extensive collection at home…
And then there were also umbrellas in the air…
We later heard from the locals that the movie “Les parapluies de Cherbourg” was first filmed in the city; the film was very successful, and someone got the idea and created a company based on that success, producing high quality umbrellas.
