After a great scuba diving vacation in North Sulawesi I’m back to flying. I’ve missed it! Last Sunday the weather was beautiful – golden autumn with colourful trees, blue skies, and crisp air. We went among other places to Koster Vig EKMN which is a private airfield owned and driven by Carsten Svendsen.
It was difficult to find a good picture of Carsten, as he is always surrounded by many people. He has a nice and open personality, and people love him. Carsten is an active member of the Danish general aviation community: organizing of interesting flying trips, promoting air sports, and he is a chairman of the Danish gyrokopter union.
Koster Vig airfield is located on the island of Møn in the south east of Denmark.
Flying there is scenic with small islands, bays and lagoons, bridges and harbours.
Koster Vig is good for practicing of landing skills because of its location, and one can meet many fellow pilots there. Locals often come by to watch our flyings and to have a chat.
There are two camping caravans with tea, coffee, bicycles and other facilities. Sitting outside in the sun is also an option.
It is also good to spend some time there for other activities. The island of Møn is famous for its natural beauty. Møns Klint with its spectacular white cliffs, Stege old town and the church from the 13th century, beautiful beaches…
“Færgemandens hus” is a restaurant 200 meters from the Koster Vig airfield. We often go there for lunch. It is an old charming building with many interesting rooms that are fun to explore. Their specialty is wild boar, and the place is very popular among locals.
It was a pleasure to fly again and to spend some time together with other pilots after being away for a month.
