Blue skies and sunshine welcomed us to our first morning in Piestany. I enjoyed a long sleep – the two weeks before this vacation at work were intense. I also enjoyed a long bath: there is a 12 m2 bath room in the apartment we are staying in, with a large bath tab and a glass wall facing a quiet street. In the morning, the sun is shining in, and you bath in the sunlight, too. It was almost a pity to leave our stylish and spacious apartment, but we needed a breakfast.
We went to the first coffee shop nearby, and what a pleasant surprise it was! They had excellent coffee of a high quality, 40 different coffee drinks! Hand-made chocolate, and freshly baked pastries.
The coffee shop is called classic coffee, but is it truly exceptional. I had a coffee drink I’ve never tasted before, and it was delicious. Vagn had his favourite chocolate croissant. We are going there tomorrow morning as well.
In Piestany, there is a museum of military history. It is closed during this time of the year, but I contacted them a couple of weeks before. I explained that we were two pilots from Denmark that had an interest in the subject, and whether we could visit the place. They offered us a free guided tour, and we gladly accepted. At 13:00 we were waiting by the entrance:
The museum surpassed our expectations. There were so many aircraft, tanks, and other military things! The guide was very knowledgeable and had so much to tell! Two hours went too quickly, and I can only recommend visiting it. I was allowed to take pictures, but only for personal use, and they asked not to publish any of them. I took a couple of hundreds of photos…
After the museum we went for a stroll to the city in the sun. It was +19C, and we enjoyed this warm day of spring.
It was the Easter Monday, and many cheerful decorations were everywhere:
One of the pedestrian streets where we had a late lunch (or an early dinner?), and coffee in the sun.
The first week of our vacation on wings has been great. So far everything goes after the plan, with some small deviations. Tomorrow we are going to fly to Hungary.
