Last Sunday we celebrated 25 years of Undløse flying club.
The programme included a visit to The Gilleleje Knowledge Centre where we met (photo above). The Gilleleje Knowledge Centre is a museum driven by eight enthusiasts with a keen interest in occupation time of Denmark during World War II. They collect, restore, and exhibit the original equipment used during that time.
The day began from a late breakfast in the museum:
How often do you get a chance to have breakfast by the side of a Messerschmitt Bf 110? There are only 3 of them left in the world, and we had a pleasure to see one of them in the museum.
Its tail had some interesting information:
A close-up where you can see what aircraft and when were let down by this night fighter:
The two engines were Daimler Benz DB 605 of 1475 hp each.
Junkers Jumo 211F engine that was primarily used in bombers:
Radio communications room with original equipment:
There were tanks everywhere (or so it seemed):
A sanitation bunker is a newly opened exhibition representing the functionality of such building:
Doctor’s room:
There were so many interesting things to see and stories to hear!
After around 3 hours of this exciting excursion in The Gileleje Knowledge Centre we drove to the Rudolf Tegner’s Park. There we enjoyed our picnic lunch:
There was this very nice cafe near the park where we finished our tour with a cup of coffee and an ice cream:
It was a very pleasant day spent together. Many thanks to Vagn, Jens, and Helge for arranging it!
