In our part of the world gliding season starts in March – April. The weather at this time of the year is often with rains, thermals are poor, and the grass runways need sunshine after a long winter. Every glider pilot looks forward to having his first flight after a winter break.
In Gørløse gliding center we start from having PFT flights with an instructor where we need to prove our ability to do certain exercises in the air, takeoff and landing, and after that we are free to fly in single-place gliders.
Today I had my PFT with Glenn, and it was such a pleasure being airborne, to feel this “natural” way of being in the air, to see fellow pilots from the club to take off and land. The air was still and there wasn’t much soaring, but the joy was high.
