Before leaving Stendal, I did a couple of rounds over the old town. I liked the place very much, and wanted to memorise it from air, as well.
On my way home, I was going to make a stop in Sieksdorf, and visit the small town of Haffkrug by the sea:
Travemünde in the Bay of Lübeck looked spectacular:
The four-masted vessel you can see on the photo above is one of the famous sailing ships from Hamburg. Built in 1911, it is a museum now, a youth hostel, and a landmark of Travemünde.
I was welcomed to Sieksdorf airport, and got a nice parking place:
In Sieksdorf, I made a new friend. One German pilot told me, he was going to visit several Danish islands during summer, and I offered him my contact details, in case he would need help or just want to meet someone. It showed up, that pilot was from Lüneburg – and then it was my turn to tell him that I had just visited his home airfield and was going to come again. What a coincidence! I hope we can meet later this year, both in Denmark and in Germany.
I walked down to the beach, and to the first restaurant. They had local fish on the menu, and it was such a pleasure to sit on the sunny terrace, and enjoy the sea view together with the food:
After the meal – a long walk by the sea:
The small towm of Haffkrug was full of tourists. The weather was excellent, and all accomodations were sold out. Shops were open, and the atmosphere was very lively. Haffkrug is used to be a fishing village; it is one of the oldest seaside resorts in the Bay of Lübeck.
I had my coffee and apfelstrudel in one of the restaurants, relaxing and greatly appreciating this small break on my way home.
Walking back via the beach promenade, I adored all those typical German strandkorb (beach basket). I actually find them rather uncomfortable to use 🙂 but very charming!
Before leaving Sieksdorf airfield, I saw several small butterflies, and managed to take a picture of one of them:
It reminded me of the very first day of my Easter 2022 trip, when I saw a butterfly just before leaving. I thought it was a good omen to see it again at the end of my tour.
The last flight was so good – not a slight sign of turbulence, smooth air, and I felt I was so relaxed:
Flying by Heiligenhafen, I was thinking that every time I fly by, I tell to myself – I want to visit it. So why not do it soon? It is going to be by car (there is no airstrip, too bad!), but then one more dream is going to be fulfilled. It might not be as beautiful by foot, as it is from air – but it would be so nice to wander on those sandbanks:
My Aeroprakt functioned well during the tour; everything worked perfect:
Soon I was back in my home flying club in Holbæk. I was so overwhelmed with all those wonderful experiences I had during my Ester 2022 tour, I couldn’t believe I was so lucky with the weather. And I felt I could continue forever…
