For personal reasons, Flemming and I cannot go on a flying summer vacation this year, otherwise we would have headed up for Sweden, as we did last summer. But we can have day trips, and hope to come on weekend tours – preferably staying in a tent. So we took our tents with us to my flying club. Whilst I was doing some work in the hangar, Flemming pitched the tents:
They were more or less identical, mine being smaller and lighter. There were no missing parts. We agreed to use them interchangeably – in that way we’d find out what works best for us and when.
In Holbæk flying club, the clouds were rather dramatic, and we couldn’t figure out whether it would rain or not:
I worked on my new canopy cover:
And Flemming was enjoying the sunshine:
The Aviator was teasing me (he wanted to get airborne!):
In the evening, the weather became quite nice, and we decided to go for a flight over Copenhagen. It has been a long time…
It is always spectacular to fly over Copenhagen. Kongens Nytorv, where I work (or worked before corona! still working from home), in the far center:
A closer look at the Frederik’s Church (Marmorkirken) and Amalienborg, the home of the Royal Danish family:
It only takes about 5 minutes to fly over Copenhagen (via a special VFR route, called Ellehammer route), but it is so intense – you get to see much!
Flemming and I continued to the north, to the city of Helsingør and Kronborg Castle:
We did a couple of rounds over the Kronborg Castle, and took plenty of pictures:
On the northern coast of Zealand, we admired the wonderful light and some very unusual reflections of the clouds in the sea; it was almost surreal:
The beach of Liseleje, where the day before we had a sunset dinner:
And of course, enjoyed swimming there:
We flew by the western side of the Hornsherred, and appreciated the beauty of it:
The whole flight looked approx. like this:
We were a bit hungry, and decided to land and have dinner (take-away salads we had brought with us) by the club house, where I took a selfie of us with my drone:
Hares were running around, and the sunset was fabulous:
It was getting darker and colder, and we hurried up to clean the aircraft and prepare it for the next flight.
