Finally there was stable winter weather that stretched over several days inclusive weekend, with sunshine and deep blue sky every day, and over the whole Denmark! I’ve missed going on weekend trips; last time it was four months ago – in October on Mors island. So that beautiful weather was such a needed gift!
Friday afternoon Flemming and I left from Holbæk on a weekend trip to Skagen, the northern tip of Jutland. Flying to Skagen by the east coast of Jutland was spectacular: snowy landscapes, ice on the lakes and rivers. Especially the Treå Møllebugt (photos above and below) – a bay northeast of Randers – was so breathtaking with all those huge and small pieces of ice of different shapes:
It was so heavenly beautiful that we did a couple of rounds to better appreciate the experience:
Flemming and I looked so much forward to have a great weekend in Jutland.
The flight was in headwind, but easy. There was almost no air traffic, and we enjoyed the views.
We soon reached our destination – Sindal airport, where we parked the aircraft, got into our rented car, and headed on the road.
The sunset was approaching, and we drove to the Tversted beach.
It was the right place to say hello to the weekend:
It is allowed to drive a car on that beach – it was great fun:
But it was even more fun to walk and watch the waves and the ever changing sunlight colours. We took lots of pictures, and waited for the sun to go down.
The next stop was café Fisk, a local fish shop, where we bought our take-away dinner. Then supermarket, a bottle of sparkling, chocolate ice cream and strawberries, before driving to the small house we rented in Skagen.
Everything tasted very good; I couldn’t eat it all of course. We decided, we’d go “all fish” for the weekend.
Our first evening in Skagen was coming to an end. We were tired, but happy, and awaited the next two days with pleasure.
