Home Flying tripsDenmark The summer solstice 2017

The summer solstice 2017

by Natalie Kjaergaard

The 21st June 2017 was the longest day of the year in Denmark, and best way to experience it was of course from air.

Lennart joined me as a co-pilot, and Carsten in his gyro (photo above).

We went to Endelave (EKEL), a nice island just about one hour flying west of our home airfield. The weather was slightly changing:

Good personal hygiene is important:

We took the bikes and went to the harbour:

After checking out the harbour we went to the cafe for dinner.

The food was great – healthy and tasty, and we had to add some fat with a desert.

There was a golf course in the yard. We didn’t play, maybe another time.

Group photo before heading home:

Going home was easy – we had tailwind. The sun glimpsed briefly between the skies, and we made a round to take some pictures.

The end of civil twilight – end time for VFR flights – in Copenhagen was 22:58, and we wanted to fully experience this opportunity for late flying.

We landed in our home airfield in Måløv around 22:30:

Wonderful day, and we wished it lasted longer…
