Summer 2023 trip. Day 22: Fog in Slovenia, roses & drinks by Balaton

by Natalie Kjaergaard

It was a sunny morning in Ajdovščina. We got OY-9797 from the hangar, and prepared for the flight.

The take-off was over the city, and Flemming took a picture of the center of Ajdovščina. We stayed in the building the yellow arrow points at:

Our flight was over Slovenia and Croatia, to the town of Siófok in Hungary:

We flew by the mountains of Slovenia:

There was beautiful fog in the vally, and luckily we were just going to fly by its side.

The views were stunning:

Soon we had to get back to our route, leaving the clouds behind:

The mood in the cockpit was positive:

Mur river on the boarder between Croatia and Hungary:

The source of Mur is in Austria, with Graz being the largest city on the river, the city where we stayed in the beginning of this summer tour.

The Kőröshegy Viaduct, the longest bridge in Hungary. It is 1872-metre-long, with its highest point above ground level at 88 metres, and it is over 23 metres wide:

The precipitation lead off the road is tapped into a reservoir built for this specific purpose, and after cleaning the water runs into the Séd Creek, then on to Lake Balaton.

After flying a bit around – over the Balaton and Siófok, we landed in Siófok airport:

Flemming and I rented a two-bedroom house in Siofok. The house itself wasn’t anything special, but it had a grand garden, with fruit trees, berries bushes, a small grape field, roses, and a terrace.

We dropped our bags and headed for Balaton, where we spent a couple of hours. It was a pleasure to cool down in its murky waters:

Then it was time to have a drink:

We just stayed there by the lake whole evening, and had a dinner in one of the retaurants, before walking back to our new home.
