Summer 2023 trip. Day 14: Planning to escape the bad weather

by Natalie Kjaergaard

Mornings in Croatia were so good – warm and sunny, with lots of local fruit for breakfast, of a quality we never see in Denmark:

Flemming would lie on a sun bed (or maybe we shall call it shadow bed?), check his e-mails and the weather, and we’d decide on the day’s activities.

We hadn’t been on the other part of the bay yet, wanted to see the church and explore the beaches there:

Walking up to the church was relatively easy, the steps were wide and low:

Those steps were constructed by the end of the 18th century, but replaced by the end of 19th.

The church was large and beautiful, and with a huge chandelier I’ve never seen in a church before:

On the other side, there were also steps:

The beaches on the other side were rocky, but with in-built ladders that helped to come in and out of the sea. Flemming couldn’t wait to jump in:

It was such a pleasure to be in the water!

We spent a couple of hours there.

The weather around Croatia was with lots of thunderstorms, and we needed to agree on our next destination. Therefore we didn’t stay long at the beach, but walked back home, adoring those narrow streets on our way:

I finally got a picture with that gorgeous statue of a fisherman in the centre of Mali Loshinj:

We had monitored the changing weather, that was affecting our flying plans. We were considering flying to Slovenia,  northern Italy and then to the southern France, but it didn’t look feasible. If we flew to Slovenia, we’d had rains next days… So we decided to fly south instead of, to the Croatian island of Hvar.
In the evening, Flemming prepared some great seafood for us:

And we enjoyed it on our terrace:

Before going to bed, we had a stroll by the marina – it was our last night in Mali Losinj:
