Sea view in Büsum

by Natalie Kjaergaard

The weather in the upcoming weekend looked so nice – it had to be enjoyed somewhere by the sea, I thought. After some quick considerations, I decided to go to Büsum – a small sea town on the west coast of Germany.

Flemming joined me for the tour, and we left Friday after work.

I didn’t have the time to check whether those restricted areas in the northern Germany were active, so I just filed my flight plan in an easy way:

During the flight, the air traffic controller informed me, those areas were not active, and offered to fly directly, which we happily did.

An old sea dike close to the Büsum airport:

Those low-laying areas by the coast were often flooded in the old days, taking villages and their inhabitants…

We were happy we could arrive earlier than anticipated, and to have a more relaxed evening.

On final for landing in Büsum, where we were warmly welcomed:

Flemming and I refuelled, and parked our OY-9797 by the hangar:

Biking to the town, we made a stop by Edeka, a German supermarket, and bought some food. The supermarket was huge, and with a very good selection of quality products.

I had booked an apartment and again didn’t have the time to really learn what it was. It turned out to be a two-floor and two-bedroom apartment, nicely furnished, with a big balcony and a sea view:

A bottle of red wine waited on the table, and luckily Flemming chose some very nice beef for our dinner which we enjoyed in the living room:

It was a tough week at work for both of us, and we were tired. But – two warm and sunny days were in front of us, and that gave lots of energy.
