Poisoned boobs or the Little Mermaid?

by Natalie Kjaergaard

Finally a weekend trip to Germany! I had looked so much forward to it!

The Aviator and The Blue Bear, his best friend, happily joined me for the tour:

In Flensburg, the weather was very nice. I spottet the Glücksburg Castle – wanted to see it from above:

I had planned to visit this castle the day after, and thought it would be good to take some aerial photos first:

In Flensburg, I parked my OY-9797 and put its canopy cover on – to protect the cockpit from sun and overheating.

It is such a good thing to have – light, easy, beautiful 🙂 I know, I’m promoting my own product – but Gabrielle Chanel did the same when she was spilling her perfumes to persuade others Chanel perfumes were outstanding! 🙂 If you are curious, you are welcome to see my products here.

In Flensburg, I chose to go off the central pedestrian street, to experience something new. I also intentionally deselected Nordertor and Nordensrasse with its cats-graffiti and shoestrings – very charming places indeed, but I’ve seen them several times before.

I loved those small half-timbered houses, located on quiet cobblestone streets, and thought – could I live in such one? There is not much room, but they are so special:

Chinese pigs in one of the shops, so cute I wanted to buy one (but didn’t want to carry it around):

On the corner of Nikolaistrasse I saw that unusual sculpture, and wondered what it represented:

I saw a big snake, a woman, big boobs, but mostly snake and boobs. I didn’t notice the fountain! So after some considerations, I called this piece of art “Poisoned boobs” (the rationale: boobs are attracting, but they are poisoned because it is a snake). Later I learned, this sculpture was made by Ulrich Beier and named Holmnixe, and is actually a mermaid with a fishtail. Mermaids are known for their positive attitude towards people; mermaids bring life, protection and blessings. So next time you are in Flensburg, remember to touch the Holmnixe!

It was very nice to visit the cozy inner yards of the city:

In one of the windows on such narrow streets I saw an interesting photo:

I’m not into celebrities, you know, nor into Royals. I don’t know who the jeans-dressed guy is. But the lady gracefully giving him a hand doesn’t need to be presented even for me – the Queen of Denmark Margrethe II.

The Franciscan monastery of Flensburg, I came by, was founded in 1263, and the brothers of the monastery founded the Hospital of the Holy Spirit:

Nowadays the monastery serves as a nursing home with the charitable foundation that was set up in 1545 by the Danish King Christian III. There are beautiful inner gardens with flowers, roof terraces, and many other good things for its elderly residents.

Coats of Arms and an inscription over the old entrance door:

I walked down to the Market square. It was used as intended – for market, with lots of fruit, veggies, flowers:

Everything was flourishing, it seemed:

I had nice relaxing time in Flensburg, and I looked forward to my trip to the Glücksburg Castle the day after.
