Long weekend in Kołobrzeg. Beach

I love Polish food. So I spoiled myself with potato pancakes, dumplings of different kinds… In the mornings I’d always have pancakes with cottage cheese and yoghurt (you are supposed to eat them with creme fraiche – but way too many calories):

Kołobrzeg has some great beaches. The weather was very warm, around +28C, and sunny – spending time on the Baltic coast in September couldn’t be more pleasant.

At the entrance to the port of Kołobrzeg there is a 26 metres tall lighthouse, which history dates back to 1666:

The lighthouse was destroyed during the WWII, and later rebuilt.

Colourful ships were sailing tourists; they were departing every 45 minutes or so:

Near the beach, there was a shop selling a great variaty of smoked fish. There was always a queue:

A seagull could smell my smoked halibut and asked for a piece, but I told it to go off fishing:

The Kołobrzeg Pier is a nice structure of 220 metres long – but could you imaging paying for going for a walk there?!

It wasn’t expensive, but there was like a kilometer (or more) long promenade by the sea, completely free of course. By this newer pier and by the old one, there were cashiers who sold tickets to walk on a pier! A ticket costed something like 3 – 5 PNL (approx. 1 euro), not many people were buying them, but someone had a job to collect those small money for walking on a pier – I really couldn’t believe my eyes…

On the seafront promenade, many artists were selling their products:

The water was increadibly clean:

German beach baskets:

Needless to say, getting into the water was so enjoyable, so refreshing!

I was spending many hours of my 4 days in Kołobrzeg on its beaches – so lucky one can be in September!
