Home Flying tripsDenmark Indian summer

Indian summer

by Natalie Kjaergaard

It has been incredibly warm last days in Denmark. I don’t think we ever had such high temperatures in October, and we don’t complain! Today I managed to leave my job early, and went for an afternoon flight.

My home airfield in MĂĄløv on the photo below – Albatros flying club. Place and people that gave me the best gift in my life – flying. The best place on this planet. The yellow line is the runway – 280 x 15 meters.

There was mist in the air, and it was difficult to see much against the sunlight. But – it didn’t spoil the pleasure.

When I flew by Holbæk, and heard Kenneth on radio. He was also out flying, enjoying the sunny Friday afternoon. Kenneth is taxiing to the hangar in his beautiful KZ-VII:

Kenneth’s friend took a photo of us:

After a short break I went to Kræmmersten (PPR) to practice landings:

Løvenborg Castle close to Kræmmersten:

I also was brave enough to land on Jørgen’s runway (PPR). When you land on RWY09, you can either do it over the trees (and they are tall!) with a deep dive, or you can land from the right side where you need to do a left turn at a very low altitude (requires practice). I chose to land from the right side. The runway starts just behind the trees:

Jørgen’s dog is always happy the meet visitors:

I love flying on a Friday afternoon/evening, and alone. Some people go to parties, others watch TV, or need to relax after a working week. There are normally not many aircraft in the air. I was really happy, I guess you can see it from this selfie:

After a couple of hours I headed home. Turning on final RWY09:

Home sweet home:

It was wonderful!!! 🙂
