The weather forecast looked excellent for the next 4-6 days, it was a good chance to fly abroad.
Flemming and I decided to fly to Hamburg, and spend some sunny days there.
We saw this special island on our way, half of which was just a big yellow rapeseed field:
Graswarder nature reserve north of Heiligenhafen, where we stayed on a long weekend for 2 years ago, nice memories:
We quickly reached Uetersen-Heist airport south of Hamburg, a place I visited before. It is a very friendly airport, with fuel, restaurant, and as you can see – easy landing:
Once I was there together with Vagn, a friend from my flying club, also on a trip to Hamburg.
Flemming refuelled, I did the paper work.

We tied down my OY-9797, and I remembered to bring the canopy cover with me. It was +23C (+17C at home), sunny, little wind – my Aeroprakt was happy to have it on:

Whilst we were waiting for our taxi, Flemming and I made ourselves comfortable in the garden, and ate the ready-made salads we brought with us. I always bring food and water, when on flying trips – you never know where you could end up.
15 min taxi ride, then approx. 45 min by direct train – and we were in Hamburg:

After a quick shower, Flemming and I headed for the downtown. I love the harbour in Hamburg – there is always so much life there!
We realised, those days Hamburg Port celebrated its 835 years anniversary! We were so lucky to be there! The city was packed with people, events, live music:
There was happy atmosphere, and were enjoyed walking around in that warm sunny weather.
The evening was calm and peaceful, with many people watching the sunset from different places:
Flemming and I hurried up to by tickets for different events. To a concert at the Elbphilarmonie, which is a big concert hall (one of the landmarks of Hamburg), something I always wanted to experience. And also to the celebrations with fireworks, that we were going to admire from a sailing boat. Our programme for the next days was set.
