Rolf, Joakim, and I took off from Höganäs Friday morning on the 8th June, and headed for ESGP, Säve airport. Höganäs airfield from air:
The Aeroclub in Göteborg was going to celebrate 100 years anniversary with a heartly aviation festival. The club has its home at Säve airfield, and in collaboration with Aeroseum the weekend of 8th – 10th June was set up as a fly-in with themes as Helimeet, electric aircraft, and Kids’ Flying Weekend.
Selfies in the air are quite difficult to take. I normally use my GoPro, but just before the trip I – once again – managed to break the housing. It’s a man’s world: if you have long nails, opening a GoPro’ housing is a challenge. Joakim did it very good with a mobile phone.
FL65 and in about an hour we reached Göteborg. There is an antenna on approach of 1500 feet tall, we were well awared of it:

Göteborg/Säve airport from air (photo below). The RWY 04/22 is not in use, the RWY 01 has a fence up to the crossing taxiway. That fence is almost invisible from air, and one has to be aware of it.

We came early, and got a very nice welcome and a VIP guest parking in front of the flying club. We had to move the day after though 🙂

We stayed in hotel Nolvik that is located just behind the flying club. It has a good restaurant with the view to the airfield.
It was also very comfortable to be in the aero club’s building. It has good facilities.
One of them was a flight simulator room. We were hooked on there 🙂 I managed to fly and land a two-engine aircraft (with the guidance from Joakim who is a pro!).
The club had a good library, and I found a book I want to read (I would accept it as a gift 🙂 if someone wanted to surprise me):
Since I discovered two MFI-11 in Landskrona flying club, I used hours of internet research reading sparse info about the factory and the aircraft it manufactured. And there it was – a whole book about it!
We spent our first day at Säve hanging around, socializing with other pilots, and checking out other guests’ aircraft. A team from Pipistrel came with two aircraft: one electrical, and the other one – Virus SW. Rolf and Joakim in the latter one:
Some of the exhibitors were preparing for the weekend. On the photo below is a GV38-AN from the Göteborgs Veteran Aircraft Association. If you are interested in giving a hand in restoration work, let them know.
Evening was used for having dinner together with other pilots, staff and volunteers.
And whilst we were socializing over a meal & drinks in the evening sun, pilots from Blackwing and Pipistrel did a personal mini air show for us. Rolf in front of the Blackwing:
And this is the electric aircraft from Pipistrel. The pilot did 20 flights with guests during Friday! We also wanted to get one, but all time slots were pre-booked long in advance. Friday evening he did a flight for all of us, and mostly for his soul – as his colleagues told me.
