Waking up in the country side was quite cheerful. On Föhr decorations are lovely:
Föhr is the second-largest German North Sea island (the map is from welt-atlas.de). It is a very popular tourist destination. The island is 6.8 km wide and 12 km long. The population is around 8-9.000.
I didn’t have any plan, just drove around and explored the island according to my mood. The village of Nieblum was probably the most charming place. Cobblestone streets, rose gardens, art galleries, houses from the 16th century…
Even modern houses on Föhr are built in the same “old” style:
I saw the guy on the photo below in several villages.

Beaches of Föhr seemed to be endless…
In a water-front restaurant a coffee was served with sugar balls:
It was a pleasant calm and warm September day, and I enjoyed a long walk by the sea side.
With this wonderful car I explored different corners of the island. I drove about 100 km in a day! I managed to get lost a couple of times, but the good thing with not having to look at the watch is that you can simply enjoy everything coming your way.
Expect unexpected… I came to the northern part of Föhr where I imagined to see a remote pristine beach. Instead, there was a kind of a sump:
And this is how this area looks like from air (I went there the day after):
Then I did some “off-road” driving and windmill-watching. The windmills were about 50m tall and had winglets on.
At the end of the day I returned to the beach where I had a peaceful evening with a magnificent view.
