First snow in November

The first snow this winter season came in November, and it stayed for several days. Not in Copenhagen, of course – it was too warm for it, but outside the bigger cities. In my flying club near Holbæk there was lots of snow, especially on the runway…

The snow was wet and heavy, and the ground roll took longer time. I was almost ready to abort the takeoff, but my Aeroprakt lifted smoothly, and I was airborne.

I was astonished by the views – there was snow everywhere!

I did a round over the nearby castles – Torbenfeldt:

I love going for a stroll in the castle’s park. I have always wanted to visit the castle, to walk through its rooms, to see its interior. It is open for visitors from May til October (when there is flying season, you know).

Roskilde fjord:

The views and the pictures looked very different, depending on whether the sun was out or not. In one direction, there were blue skies and sunshine, in other – clouds and freezing fog…

Holbeæk city (on the photo above) didn’t have much snow. But on the other side of the Holbæk fjord, there was lots of it. Hørby church and Hørbygaard, our (my flying club’s) neighbours:

I was so happy to see the snow from air! The Aviator and The Blue Bear were screaming “more!” from their passenger seat, and I flew more. It was quite cold, and I was freezing – but I enjoyed the flight.

The long shadows of “round” trees are always fascinating to see. I did several rounds, tying to get the right angle:

There was fog in many places, I could clearly see it from air, and therefore I didn’t dare to fly further away. My flight that day, logged by SkyDemon:

The landing went fine in that deep wet snow, but it was something I hadn’t experienced before.

Whilst I was cleaning my Aeroprakt, The Aviator and The Blue Bear made a snowman for me:

I spent the last light minutes drinking hot tea in the club house, and watching the fog to raise over the ground:
