First passenger

Yesterday I had my first flight with a passenger – Lars Gotfredsen, a friend from my flying club.

It was a pleasure-trip, for many reasons. Most important – the passenger. Lars is a an accomplished pilot, and he has a versatile personality. First flight with a passenger is critical: you need to trust your guest probably as much as he needs to trust you.  It is a significant experience, and Lars greatly influenced it.

The weather was calm and sunny, with cold air that is so good for bearing an aircraft.

We headed for Endelave, an island I described earlier in this post.  The feeling of being airborne is impossible to describe. No matter what weather is, which way you are going, or what aircraft you fly – it is complete happiness.

Landing on EKEL from the water side was spectacular:

We had a walk in the garden, took pictures of the beautiful spring flowers, and had an al fresco sandwich-break.

Flying home was even more enjoyable – the air was smooth (we call it “smørluft” in Danish), and the flight harmonious. We did a round over the island of Samsø at a high altitude – have heard stories of some residents freaking out when seeing an aircraft in the air 🙂 The island is otherwise worth visiting, and people are nice and welcoming. On the picture below is Stavns Fjord, Samsø.

We adored the landscapes on our way. It is amazing how beautiful simple things like waves in the water or shapes of the earth can look like from the air. This particular part I will go (I mean fly!) and watch again:

The sunset time was delightful, and we just flew around, took pictures and videos, and enjoyed the view of long shadows on the ground, subtle change in colours, the sun slowly moving down. Landing before twilight was not an option 🙂
