COVID-19 has had its impact on general aviation, too. We were restricted to fly abroad, and I’ve missed my pilot mates from the neighbouring countries a lot. As soon as the situation stabilised and the restrictions were lifted, I headed for Höganäs in Sweden.
I took The Aviator with me – he loves having a seat for himself! The weather wasn’t very good that day, with low broken clouds, but it cleared up in the late afternoon, and clear skies were going to hold till the end of the day.
In Höganäs, many aircraft were arriving, and I could hear them on radio. When I was on final, two other aircraft had to be in holding, waiting for me to land.
In one of them were two Swedish pilots, I’ve previously been on flying tours together with – Håkan and Jan. It was very nice to meet again. We had this photo taken in front of my Aeroprakt:
In the flying club’s garden, fish and sausages, coffee and drinks were ready:

Flygfisk is a speciality of the flying club in Höganäs served at fly-ins on Tuesdays during summer time. Pilots from many other clubs are coming there, and locals love to come by as well.
The dish is very simple, and very tasty: fried herring on rye bread, with mustard sauce, chopped red onion and parsley:
After dinner, it was time to have a closer look at our aircraft. Thomas in front of his recently bought Cessna:

Joakim’s Piper PA-18 Super Cub on the photo below. Joakim bought it after a crash for 2 years ago, and restored it by himself to the literally state of the art aircraft:
After walk in the hangars and around all those many visiting aircraft, we had coffee and ice-cream:
With Rolf, we’ve also been together on flying tours, and have missed meeting each other and talking about flying.
Ulrik (left on the photo below) came by as well. He was cutting grass that evening, and took a break to say hello:
It was so wonderful to have this chance to meet again, to have dinner together, share our flying experiences and plans!
Around 8 p.m. people began to fly back home. On the radio, before leaving the frequency, many of them thanked the flying club in Höganäs for the tasty food and great evening together.
My flight back home went uneventful; I enjoyed the beautiful views on my way. Roskilde fjord:
I saw several fields in violet colours – cabbage or lavender? They looked very colourful from air:
Hopefully there will be more such nice evenings like this one during summer; the pandemic will go away, and we will be able to fly freely from country to country…
