Femø revisited

by Natalie Kjaergaard

I promised Christian a tour in an ultralight since Friedrichshafen. Finally this day has come, and we decided to go to the island of Femø.

It doesn’t matter where you fly to, whether the sun is shining or not, what aircraft you are in, as soon as you (read: pilot) are airborne, you are happy.

There were some other guests on Femø – they travelled from Maribo:

We had a nice lunch at Femø Inn:

Not much changed on Femø since my last visit in March. We checked out the private garden we went crazy about that time – the ocean of beautiful blue flowers was still there… Significantly fewer flowers but still delightful…

My first coffee al fresco this year. Where is that spring coming? +5C… but hey, if you can swim outdoor during winter, you can also have coffee on a sunny freezing cold terrace in April!

And below is the former airforce training base Flyvestation Avnø, now closed as all airforce basic training activities moved to Karup in Jutland. As you can see, the grass runways are now flooded.

We were granted permission to fly over the Roskilde airfield. There was no traffic. I wonder what all these pilots were doing on an Easter Sunday? What could be better than celebrating it in the air?

And finally a quick round over Søndersø before landing at home.
