Ascension holidays 2019 with Värnamo flygklubb. Day 4: All good things eventually come to an end

by Natalie Kjaergaard

It was so nice to be in the resort area of the island of Usedom, and the weather was so pleasant – none of us wanted to leave. Celie in front of the Villa Regina in Seebad Alhbeck where our small group of six stayed (Anders, Robert, John, Johan, Celie, and I):

Robert was our “hotel manager”, and he found excellent hotels on our trip. Photo of Robert in the National Museum of Prague, exploring the Czech history and culture:

John, Anders, and Johan relaxing in the garden of our hotel whilst waiting for a taxi to arrive:

I managed to say good bye to those heavenly beautiful white sand beaches:

And to “The Big Ben” of Seebad Alhbeck:

All met in the airport; some needed to refuel. One by one, we were taking off. All aircraft, except Peter’s and mine, were heading for Sweden. Peter was going to drop me off in Roskilde, Denmark.

A ferry, departing from the Gedser port of Denmark:

Gedser is the town at the southern tip of the Danish island of Falster, and it is the southernmost town in Denmark.

I did the radio talk, Peter flew the aircraft; we were a perfect crew:

Præstø Fjord, Denmark:

And finally, Roskilde airport:

I asked Peter whether he would join me for a very late lunch, and he kindly agreed. We drove to the Roskilde harbour, and got a table on a sunny terrace of the Snekken restaurant:

The staff was quite confused: the served the wrong food, promised to bring water and never came back, and so on. But nothing could spoil a sunny summer afternoon after a good flying trip!

Ice-cream for desert and a lazy walk around the harbour:

Peter flew back home to the Smålandsstenar airport ESMY, and I followed him on the Flightradar24.

The whole tour looked approximately like that for Peter and me:

The rest of the group didn’t make a stop in Denmark.

Though our group didn’t make it to Scotland as it was planned, we had a very good time together. We had to adjust our plans very quickly depending on the weather; we visited many nice places and will have good memories from the trip. Let’s see what next year will bring for this annual tour. All good things eventually come to an end – to give room for new good things and wonderful experiences that are about to arrive.
