April tour 2019. Day 9: Szeged

by Natalie Kjaergaard

It was the Holy Thursday in Szeged, Hungary, the 18th April 2019. There were market stalls on the streets selling Easter souvenirs, and I convinced Vagn to give me an Easter bunny with a bow and a pearl for 2 EUR:

We went for a lazy stroll through the streets of Szeged:

Modern yellow trams of the city:

The fountain on the photo below was very special, we tried many times to get the most of this photo shot, and then gave up. Vagn was sitting on one side, then on the other one, but I didn’t succeed to get a decent photo…

We were looking for a place to eat in, and saw a sign “Propeller” on one of the restaurants – it became our choice, just because of the name. The food was great. I finally got fish!

The restaurant was called “Propeller”, because either the recent or former owner used to be a parachute jumper. We got the staff to take this photo of us:

After the dinner, and a walk in the town, we thought of a coffee break. And there was a nice cafe with at least 100 of different cakes:

The cakes were quite heavy, and we had to go for a longer walk to burn a bit of those excessive calories. River Tisa that runs through the city:

Szeged is a beautiful city, with many nice buildings:

In one of the brochures we took, Vagn saw a classical music concert that evening. We decided to go.

The theatre was lovely, and we took many pictures there, also of ourselves:

The ceiling with beautiful paintings and golden ornaments:

Sigmund Groven, a harmonica virtuoso, played excellent music:

It was such a great concert! We couldn’t spend an evening in a better way.

Vagn and I having champagne during the break:

It was a calm warm night, with almost full moon, and we went to the bridge over Tisa to take a couple of pictures of the Szeged Dom:

The day went quickly; we also managed lots of practical things like planning of our next destination – Timisoara in Romania where we were going to stay for 5 days.
