Albatros tour 2016: day 6

by Natalie Kjaergaard

Olsztyn is a nice city located in the northeast part of Poland. In the Old Town there is a castle where Nicolas Copernicus himself lived for many years. A fragment of a wall on which the great astronomer drew auxiliary lines during his research on the day and night of the equinox in 1517 remained in the castle. There he also wrote one of the first works in the history of economical thought, explaining the phenomenon of inflation.

watchOlsztyn lies is in the centre of a famous Mazury lake district with its 2.000 lakes, and the leisure activity we chose for this day was canoeing/kayaking on Krutynia river. Krutynia is one of the most beautiful lowland trails in Europe of great natural variation.

We saw an incredible amount of fish in this river. Swans were swimming by, and one of them was accompanying us for a while.

Beautiful lillies – I couldn’t resist taking a closer photo:

I logged our tour with Suunto Traverse watch:

It was about 13 km, with a relaxing speed, and time to stop and enjoy the nature.
