The 31st July’ morning met us with sunshine and +27C. Coming from Denmark with the average summer temperatures around +15C we enjoyed this weather very much.
After breakfast we got into a planning mode. Due to a NOTAM issued for Krakow airspace we couldn’t land in Nowy Targ as was planned, and had to find another airfield that would accommodate 21 aircraft for 2 nights. Our next destination was Zakopane, and we didn’t want to miss it.
After some hours of work we succeeded in having an agreement with Aeroklub Kielecki in Maslow (EPKA), and with a bus company that would help us to get to Zakopane. It was quite a relief, and we could enjoy the rest of the day exploring the city.
Wroclaw is very beautiful and peaceful (not boring!). It has more than 300 dwarf statues. Having a dwarf has become a status symbol, and about 30 of new statues are being erected each year. There is even a dwarf location guide – for those who want to go hunting them.
Polish cuisine is colourful and varied. I had lunch at Vega http://barvega.wroclaw.pl/ which is located next to Ratusz. This place was open in 1987 as the first vegan restaurant in Poland. I managed to lure 4 people from our group to join me. I’m not sure they liked it – most men prefer steaks 🙂 but they didn’t complain. The food was excellent, I would go there again.
Later we discovered a really nice chocolate cafe called Czekoladziarnia http://www.czekoladziarnia.wroclaw.pl/ where all chocolate was hand-made, and a hot chocolate drink was made of a real rich chocolate. That was a retreat!
There were musicians and dancers on the streets and the whole atmosphere was very relaxing:
For dinner we went to restaurant Jadka http://www.jadka.pl/ – a very charming and stylish place in the Old Town. Great Polish cuisine, professional service, and a company of all people from our group made this evening special.
After dinner many of us went for a walk:
It was warm, and lots of people were outside in endless restaurants and cafes. What a wonderful day!
