Borgholm castle of Öland

by Natalie Kjaergaard

Last Sunday I happened to be in Höganäs, and lucky me – Per invited to join for a trip to Öland, an island north-east of the city of Kalmar.

In about one hour or so we reached Kalmar. Below is the Kalmar airport:

Skäggenäs half-island:

Lots of small islands in the Kalmar Strait, so beautiful:

And soon we were approaching our destination:

We landed in Borglanda ESMB. On final RWY03:

Four other aircraft from Höganäs and Landskrona were also coming. Per communicated with them on radio:

And soon the first one landed:

Then another one:

One more:

Siv made a very short landing in her MFI-11, and I did a photo of her on apron:

The club house was closed, and nobody seemed to be flying on this sunny Sunday. Landing fee could be paid via Swish mobile payment app. Siv’s puppy (that accompanies Siv on her flying trips) felt very welcome:

We decided to go and see Borgholm castle in about 1 km from the airfield. There were many beautiful flowers on the way, and I had to photograph them:

Almost the whole group in front of the castle, enjoying ice cream and snacks, sunshine and a good company:

After the castle some of us returned back to the airfield, others continued to explore the island.

Per and I took off, and flew south of Kalmar. Below is the view of Kalmar and Ölandsbron (Öland bridge that connects Kalmar and Öland):

Per communicating with an air traffic controller:

A couple of turns before heading to Höganäs:

Such a lovely flying day, spontaneous for me, and such a nice company of people sharing the same passion.
